Heat treating metals is a mystery until you understand it. Depending upon how much heat you apply and how you cool it, you get different results. Hardening, Annealing (softening) and tempering are all accomplished by applying heating and cooling in different ways.
Seth, our education coordinator had designed a class that provides a basic understanding of what goes on inside a piece of metal when you heat it up. It will focus on how different metals react and why. Practical demonstrations of treating metal using The Manufactory’s equipment will follow a classroom style presentation.
